The Scenario:

The automobile industry has witnessed drastic changes over the years, constantly changing to cater to consumers' buying behaviour. Today, consumers are starting to become conscious of our effects on the environment and are looking to decrease their carbon emissions. The Hyundai Kona was designed specifically to help consumers reduce their carbon emissions.

The Problem and the Solution:

The problem lies in the lack of confidence in electric vehicles. Gas fuelled vehicles have been around for decades, and consumers are reluctant to shift to electric vehicles. Consumers are wary of the high battery cost and the need to recharge frequently.

However, as automotive technology advances, governments have subsidised or reduced taxes on electric vehicles, making them more affordable for consumers.

The Kona is currently priced at around 23 lakhs* is justifiable as it has best in class features. It has a top speed of 154 kilometres per hour and can go from 0 to 100 in less than 10 seconds.

One need not worry about frequent charging as the Kona Electric has a claimed mileage of 452 kilometres (Modified Indian Driving Cycle - MIDC) on a full charge. The Kona Electric can be charged with a 50 kW fast charging which powers the car up to 80 per cent in just an hour.

You can also install a charger at home, which takes 6 hours and 10 minutes to charge the vehicle fully; you can leave it to charge overnight and be ready to use in the morning. A small portable charger is provided with the car, which can be plugged into any standard wall socket for a quick charge.

The main advantage of an electric vehicle is its cost-effectiveness in the long run. Electric cars help the owner save a fortune on fuel costs and are cheaper to maintain. The Kona Electric is offered in two variants, Premium and Premium dual-tone, with no significant differences except the interior colour.
